BPRC provides critical, ongoing support to grassroots organizations and local governments in creating replicable and just pathways to transform the built environment.
PRIORITY ACTIVITIES
Identify, with support from national organizations and allies, and fund community-based power-building organizations aligned with BPRC’s values and work.
Organize the robust technical assistance capacity in the national ecosystem to support community groups, unions, and leaders in government.
Directly support campaign strategy, planning, and implementation, alongside national organizations.
Synthesize and translate the latest, innovative, and values-aligned policy expertise about the clean energy transition for the building sector into replicable models for policy, campaigning, and creating durable political coalitions.
Structure opportunities for co-learning amongst pilot campaigns.
Nurture adoption of models by engaging government staff, unions, and organizing groups in new geographies, alongside national organizations and allies.
OUR VALUES
We believe that climate change, rising energy burden, air pollution, bad jobs, and wealth and racial inequality, are systemic problems that require systemic responses.
We believe that our government has a responsibility to create an economy and society that works for all of us; and should be accountable to civil society.
We believe in community organizations’ responsibility to help their partners in government with the hard task of governing, and in building public sector capacity.
We believe that a powerful labor movement raises wages for all working people and builds healthier and more democratic communities.
We believe that when public servants work in partnership with community groups and unions, we can foster a narrative of progressive government that addresses the needs of working-class people and restores faith in democracy.
We believe in the transformative opportunity of this moment by prioritizing the poor, the working class, and communities of color.
